Thanks to funding from Youth Music, Notivate Trust and Northampton School For Girls, our Jazz Crusade across Northamptonshire runs from 20th until 24th February 2012, visiting 15 different venues, playing to over 1000 young people, culminating in a public performance at Spinney Theatre, Northampton on Friday 24th February at 7.30pm.
(£5, or £3 for concessions.)

Here are the 5 amazing musicians involved:

Loz Garratt (Bass)
Recently graduated from Trinity, Loz is already an experienced jazz educator (one of the National Youth Jazz Collective Ambassadors). He has performed at Ronnie Scott’s, the Vortex and the Royal Albert Hall – and is in the house band at City Pipe.

Dave Elliott (Drums)
Graduated from Trinity college of music studying jazz and percussion. 2006 and 2008 BBC young musician of the year percussion finalist. Just
returned from world tour of Mamma Mia.

Chris Eldred (Piano)
Graduate of Trinity College of Music, Chris was the co-winner of the 2011 Gladys Puttick Prize for Improvisation and performs regularly
with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra’s small group counterpart, the NYJO Nonet. Awarded Yamaha Jazz Scholar of the year 2011.

Kwabena Adjepong (Vocals)
Currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, Kwabs featured on the TV documentary “Goldie’s Band”, performed at Ronnie Scott’s – and
recently sang the national anthem in front of thousands at Twickenham.

Tom Barford (Sax)
One of The Notivate Trust’s Youth Advisors, Tom is the inspiration behind this project. Still at school in Northamptonshire, Tom is studying at the Royal Academy on Saturday mornings. He is part of the National Youth Jazz
Collective and is one of our leading jazz prospects, performing regularly around the UK as a session player with numerous ensembles – including a recent sell-out gig at The Stables, Wavendon.

Break The Cycle (Set Me Free)
Following their performance at the final of Northamptonshire’s Anti-Bullying Songwriting Competition – and thanks to the generosity of Andy at Mark One Digital – Jenny and Taylor recently went into the studio to record the soundtrack to their stunning video.

Music Leader Training
Following the launch of our new Notivate Music Leader Training and Accreditaion Programme, we have recently completed the training of four new Licensed Notivate Leaders. Thanks to the amazingly generous support of Val Sabin, this means we can offer the programme to more young people across the UK!
